Prescription Drug Drop Box

Prescription Drug Drop Box Information

PLEASE TAKE MEDICATIONS OUT OF PRESCRIPTION BOTTLES OR CONTAINERS (EXCEPT IF THE MEDICATION SHOULD REMAIN IN A LEAK PROOF CONTAINER) AND PLACE MEDICATIONS DIRECTLY INTO A SEALED PLASTIC BAG BEFORE DROPPING OFF YOUR MEDICATIONS. THIS WILL HELP SAVE SPACE TO ACCOMMODATE THE AMOUNT OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS WE RECEIVE TO BE PICKED UP AND PROPERLY DISPOSED OF OFF SITE.

In November of 2011, the Eagle Point Police Department unveiled a permanent prescription drug drop box in the lobby of the police department at 17 S. Buchanan Ave. You can drop off your medications between the hours of 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The following items are accepted: prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, medication samples, medication for pets, ointments, lotions and liquid medications that are contained within a leak proof container.

The following items are NOT accepted: Needles (sharps), thermometers, bloody or infectious waste, medications from businesses/clinics/pharmacies/hospitals, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans and inhalers.

The idea behind this project is to get unused and expired prescriptions/medications out of the medicine cabinet in hopes of reducing the risk of abuse/theft, in addition to keeping medications out of our water and waste treatment systems.
