Property & Evidence

Property and Evidence Division

The Eagle Point Police Evidence and Property Room receives over 200 items of property each year that is held as safekeeping. Property that cannot be returned to its owner will be declared as surplus property and disposed of according to the City Code.

Evidence of a crime taken by Eagle Point Police Department will be available for return to the owner after the Property and Evidence Division is notified by the District Attorney that the evidence is no longer needed in court and the case has been adjudicated.

All property not held for evidence in a pending criminal investigation or proceeding, and held for 90 days or longer (60 days or more, plus 30 days after notice), where the owner has not been located or fails to claim the property, may be disposed of in compliance with existing laws upon receipt of proper authorization for disposal.

Found property with no owner will be disposed of in thirty-days.

A background check will be performed prior to any weapons being returned to their owner.
